AIOU Admission Criteria Matric (SSC) Programs for Overseas Students

  • AIOU Secondary School Certificate (SSC) program is equal to 10 years of education and one who are at least 13 years old and have at least 9th class of education or middle passed & even who have a Matric (SSC) fail certificate can seek admission in this program but the certificate must be issued by any recognized board / university or a government registered Govt. school or private schools of Pakistan.
  • It is compulsory to attached attested photocopies of all your supporting documents with the admission form specially if someone have a middle school pass certificate issued by any government registered private or government school then it must be attested by District Education Officer (DEO) of the respected district or it must bear a Registration number
  • You must attach your latest picture with the admission form otherwise admission will not be considered and your form may be rejected. 
  • Non-Muslims students will take Ethics in lieu of Islamic Studies. Muslims will not allow taking Ethics and inversely non-Muslims. 
  • Sometimes student try to get change their courses or group after the admission finalized by AIOU and books dispatched to the student which is not allowed at all. Therefore always choose your subjects and group selection very carefully to avoid any inconvenience
  • SSC Student will require passing 8 credit courses in all four semester. It is 2 credit hours courses that will required to clear in every semester. There 06 credit courses are compulsory out of all 8 credit courses however courses comprises 02 credit hours can be taken from the list of elective subjects. 
  • Pay your fee according to amount given in the overseas prospectus. According to the university instructions all overseas students will pay their fee as per current rate given in the prospect in US$ and get a bank draft in the favour of “The Treasurer, Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad. Ensure before submitting the admission form that you have enclosed the original bank draft with it. 
Certificate requirements
  • A student is expected to pass 08 credit courses out of which 06 credit courses are compulsory while the rest two credit courses have to be selected from the list of elective course for successful completion of the SSC / Matric Xth Class level programme. 
  • Order of the program is to choose two credits per semester, minimum duration for all the four semesters are two years. 
  • As a substitute of Islamic Studies (compulsory) non-Muslim students will study Ethics (Compulsory). They will not allow taking Islamic Studies Compulsory Course and likewise Muslims will not permit to taken Ethics Compulsory course in lieu of Islamic Studies. 
  • Only two credit courses in a semester will allow to be taken. It may two full credit courses or 01 full credit course with two half credit courses or all four half credit courses. 
  • Must see your own temperament, professional needs and aptitude before selection of the courses as these selected courses and groups will not be allowed to change at later stage as the admission is finalized and books will be dispatched to the students.
