Eligibility Criteria FSc Pre-Engineering / Pre-Medical AIOU Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad

A candidate who possesses a matriculation certificate with at least second division or equivalent with relevant science subjects is eligible to take admission in AIOU HSSC (Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering) programme. One who failed in any subject in Matric is not eligible. 
F.Sc Pre-Engineering and F.Sc. Pre-Medical is an intermediate level 02 years 04 Semesters program for students who are interested to continue their education in science subjects. In a one semester admission are not allowed in all three courses of one course like bio I, II and III of biology. To get admission in Part-II papers the student has to pass part-I of Biology-I/Chemistry-I/ Physics-I/ Math-I. Likewise to get admission in Part-III papers student required to pass Part-II of the respective paper before taking admission in Part-III. 
For each science course (Chemistry, Biology and Physics) 23 hours are compulsory to complete moreover 18 hours are compulsory for the practical work. 
There is a practical workbook for each science course like Chemistry, Biology and Physics that carries 200 Marks. It is compulsory for students to complete them and get marked by their respective tutors who evaluate and put the marks you scored as these marks possess weightage and will be included in your final examination marks. 
70% attendance in theory and practical sessions are compulsory otherwise you will not be eligible for final practical examination. So make sure your attendance maximum at least 70% and do not absence to avoid ineligibility. 
All science subjects in both programmes are taught in English. There are 162 teaching hours for the F.Sc programme. In formal system it is 160 hours. F.Sc (Pre-Medical, Engineering) practical sessions are contained on 67 hours, whereas in formal system these are 53 hours of duration. 70% attendance is compulsory in theoretical and practical classes F.Sc Pre-Engineering and Pre-medical programs. Classes are planned as per schedule to teach students face to face at designated AIOU study centers by the professional tutors for the following subject’s i.e. Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics and understanding of Math, Statistics & Computer. 
Duration of study for theoretical studies at study centers is 3 hours in a week for each science subject and practical work is consisted of 02 and half hour for every 15 days at the study centre. 
Admissions are generally offered in the months of February and August for Spring and Autumn semester respectively. HSSC (Pre-Medical/Pre-Engineering) programmes after successfully completion of program make eligible students to further continue their education in Medical or Engineering field for example. Students of Pre-Medical can take admission in MBBS, BDS, B.Sc Nursing or B.A etc and Pre-Engineering students can take admission in B.E Engineering, B.Sc Engineering, B.Sc Mathematics or B.A etc. AIOU HSSC Pre-Medical and Engineering Program are specially designed for those who can’t continue their education in a formal system. 

Written assignments / Practical : 
Due to practical work there are no assignments for Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics courses. However you have to prepare written assignments (for English, Urdu, Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies, Understanding of Maths, Stats and Computer. Students are required to get at least 40% marks in practical work and assignments and these marks will be given weightage and will be included in the final result therefore work hard for your assignments and practical work to get a better grade after the final exams. 
Marks Distribution Formula 
HSSC Pre-Medical and HSSC Pre-Engineering students who sit in final theoretical and practical exam will be warded marks as per following formula at ratio of 30:70 in the continuous assessment and final examination: 

Marks for subject having practical work: Practical exam and workbook marks 30% weightage. Final examination (written) 70% weightage.
Minimum Passing Marks Pass marks in final examination 40% and Aggregate marks to pass a course 40%.
Marks for subject having Written Assignments: Passing marks in a assignment 40%, Pass marks in the final examination 40% and Aggregate marks to pass a course 40%. Marks for the subjects without assignments & practicals are planned i.e. Pass marks in final exam 40% and aggregate marks to pass a course 40%.

Therefore for up to date information you are advise to contact Allama Iqbal Open University for an updated information.     so now i want to know ...menh ak seaman ho or aksar country se bair reta ho lekin me pre midical krna chata ho aiou se....so kia practical ki class lazmi he attend krna or theory jo k mere lea na moshkil he ....

    Respected sir,
    my son is student of DAE electrical in Government Swedish Institute of Technology Gujrat,, he is facing trouble to under stand the theory subjects, because he came from English medium lectures are in urdu and writer also different,, can he join and start FSC pre engineering from Distinguish AIOU,,
    please help and advise as early as possible,
