B. A General Group Admissions in Allama Iqbal Open University is open now Since February 2018. The last date of receiving admission forms is 30 March 2018 without a late fee. Study material books, CDs will be provided, no attendance or regular classes, no age limit or gender or racial preferences, tutors for guidance and to check assignments & practical work, helping programs through Radio & TV and final exams to evaluate overall performance are designed in this program. 30% given to assignments work and 70% weight-age to final Grade score of a student.

The university initially announced the last date of receiving admission forms was 05th March 2018 which was extended up to 30 March 2018. All eligible local, as well as Overseas Pakistanis, can get admission in B.A General living in USA, KSA, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman. Admission Criteria & Eligibility for BA Course

An applicant must fulfill all requirement to get admission in Bachelors of Arts (BA Gen Group) AIOU. So keep all points in mind before submission:

1. Internet print of certificates as supporting documents not allowed in any case.
2. Copies of provisional certificates issued by School or College will not be considered
3. Compulsory Courses in SSC Matric & HSC Intermediate must be passed in English.
4. Attach attested copies of provisional or Final Certificate if anyone completed HSC by AIOU as admission will not be made on the result card.
5. Attach FA/FSc Board/university marks sheet attested copies with admission form.
6. Incomplete forms will not be processed and delayed until all objections resolved and documents submitted by students.

Cost of AIOU B.A Prospectus

Students who want to get admission in Bachelors Program can purchase BA prospectus for Rs. 100 only. The same prospectus is also used for Matric, Intermediate, B.Com, Dars e Nizami and associate degree in Commerce. AIOU printing press publish millions of prospectuses for each semester. 

Bachelor General Admissions & Studies Schedule

The university announces admissions in B.A General Program twice in a year (Spring Semester February to March) and Autumn Semester August to September). Once admission confirmed, dispatch of B.A Books started from May to June for Spring and for Autumn November to December respectively. Students have 04 months for studies including preparation of B.A assignments then final exams start and result announced in January to February and July to August for both semesters respectively as per the following table:

Program Duration and Credit hours Information 

There are four 04 semesters in B.A General Program and 08 credit hours courses. Six months duration of study is equal to 01 semester so AIOU BA General is two 02 years program. BA Student can only take 02 full credit hour courses in a single semester or 04 half credit hours courses or 01 full and 02 half-credit courses.  BA Degree will be awarded on the passing of full 08 credit hours courses. 

List of Subjects in BA General

In the first semester, 02 full credit hours courses should be select by a BA General Group Student. i.e. 0416 Islamiat or 0418 Ethics (only for non-Muslims), 0417 Pakistan studies, 1423 Compulsory English Part-I and a half-credit hour course should be select from (Elective Subjects) to complete 02 full credit hours in the first semester. 

In the Second semester of the B.A General Group program students should pick 1424 Compulsory English Part-II and choose 03 half-credit hour or 01 full and 02 half-credit hours subjects from optional subjects to complete 02 credit hours courses. Most subjects are in Urdu but some are also in English medium. 

Likewise in the Third & fourth Semesters, there is no compulsory subjects, and students have to choose courses equal to 02 credit hours from elective subjects in each semester as showing in the above page.

Optional or elective courses provide a flexible option to choose interesting courses among the long list. These courses should be based on your own interest and choice. BA General Fee Structure 

First Semester Total Fee is Rs. 2575/- however if chosen course code 1431 then fee will be increased to Rs. 3000/-  Fee Break up details are:

Program fees along-with admission forms and other documents should be deposited on Challan Form with FWB, ABL, Bank Al-Falah, MCB, and National Bank any branch. Don't hand over cash to any person directly or any other source.
